Chicha’s is the 1st restaurant that I visited since the lockdown. I was extremely apprehensive to dine out at this time, but hunger won, and Chicha’s was the only well known place in the vicinity. The restaurant was clean and all of the staff were wearing masks. However, the restroom was pretty bad.

We wanted to order Kebabs & Biryani & leave it at that. But the floor Supervisor, Ibhrahim Khan insisted that we order the Sunday special – Lagan Tandoori Chicken that came with Rumali Roti.

This dish was the “STAR” – it is created by tightly sealing the ingredients in the cooking utensil with fire under it and hot coal on top. The result was – the meat falling off the bone & it had this beautiful smoky flavour permeating all through. Hands down, the best Hyderabadi dish I have had in a long time.

In addition, we ordered Marag that is a mutton soup accompanied with a heart shaped bread called Dilbar. Chicken & Mutton Biryani were also ordered & what I loved about them was that, they both had different flavours profiles, unlike a lot of places that just add various meats to the same rice, passing them off as separate dishes.

We ended our meal with Qubani & Double ka Meetha. The Double ka Meetha is a bread pudding, where the slices of bread are fried and then soaked in saffron infused hot milk with multiple spices. This dish was a little too sweet for me. The Qubani which is an apricot dessert served with fresh cream on the other hand, is something that I would go back for. The cream cuts through the sweetness of the Qubani, resulting in a lovely dessert.
